Spring is here!

Finally - after months of waiting under the warm blanket spring is here. Manhattan is bright, sunny but still just a tiny bit chilly.

Time to get your mojitos on - where are you going?

Dating as Carrie

Dating in New York can be though, as Anne, one of my dearest friends, said the other day. She followed up by stating that most men in this city primarily are in the game of one-night stands and not the kind of long-term relationship that she was looking for.

While I tend to agree with her to some degree, I can't dismiss the fact that during the last couple of years I've had one serious encounter and a few flings. These short dating flings I had never turned to a 'real' relationship, even though I pushed for it. I can't help but wonder if that was the reason.

I have a few friends who's single in Denmark as well, and when I tell them about my life in New York they all imagine my dating life being all like Carrie from SATC. Well, that not quite the life I'm living.

The persons I was dating for a short while was introduced to me through one of the Singles Groups in New York. If you're single I Can definitely recommend you to check out some of the groups - they're on Meetup.

Today's morning coffee was freshly brewed at Coffee Pot at 9th / 49th and shared with Anne:

Great day to you all!

The Secrets of Starbucks

During the next couple of posts I'm going to highlight some of the great and personal experiences of New York City. First part follows..

I was grabbing my daily coffee at Starbucks at 52nd this morning with Jessie, an old acquittance of college. We never had much in common in college, but we 'sparked' at our last reunion and agreed on a cup of coffee, when we were both in New York again.

She's single and in the dating game. She recently moved to New York with a brand new job, and I guess one of the reasons was for her to be closer to meeting new people. I agreed to introduce her to some of my friends.

Anyway - that's a story for another day. One of the things we discussed was the Starbucks-brand, the company claim to have adopted the name from a secondary character in the 1851 movie Moby Dick. As a graphic designer I've always adored their brand and logo. They - at least in some branches - pay ridiculously attention to details, which I believe is a must in branding now a days. I can recommend you swing by the shop at 555 West 52nd and check it out for yourselves!

I had a great cup of coffee:
